This policy applies to the RENEW browser extension (Chrome and Firefox) and the website renewaddon.com. Last updated: October 17, 2026.

In short

The extension works without an account. Your entries are kept in your browser’s local storage.
We don’t sell data, show ads, or use trackers or analytics services.
Page content is only read when you click or explicitly allow a website, and it is analyzed locally.

Extension

Stored (locally in your browser): the entries you create or confirm (name, provider, amount, currency, billing cycle, category, status, dates, optional link, notes), your settings, and which reminders have already been shown. This data is not transmitted to us.

“Capture this page” / right-click: Only after you click does RENEW read the visible text, the title and the address of the current page, and search it locally for price, billing cycle and deadlines. The page content does not leave your device. You review the suggestion before saving.

Purchase prompts: Only on websites you allow in the settings does RENEW check locally, when the page loads, whether an order confirmation is shown. You can remove this permission at any time.

Permissions: storage (entries), active tab and scripting (read the page on click), alarms and notifications (reminders), context menu (right-click capture), access to this website (optional sync with the dashboard), optional website permissions (purchase prompts).

Optional account and dashboard

If you create an account, we store your email address, an optional name, a salted password hash (no plain text) and the entries you save in the dashboard. A session cookie keeps you signed in for up to one year. To prevent abuse, failed sign-in attempts (IP address or email, time) are stored for 15 minutes. The data is kept on our own server in Germany and is not shared with third parties. The web server logs standard technical access data (e.g. IP address, time, requested address) for troubleshooting and security.

The extension only reads cloud entries if you have the dashboard open and are signed in in the same browser, and shows them in addition to your local entries. When you sign out, this copy is removed from the extension.

Export and deletion

In the extension you can delete individual entries or all local data, and export a backup (JSON), a calendar (.ics) or a spreadsheet (CSV). When you remove the extension, the browser deletes its storage. To delete your account including all cloud entries, a short message to the operator is all it takes.

What RENEW doesn’t do

No automatic cancellations, no purchases, no payment processing, no reading of passwords or form inputs, no transmission of page content to servers or AI services.
