How to cancel subscriptions before they renew
Short answer: Write down every subscription with its next renewal date, get a reminder a few days before, and cancel on the official account page at least 1–2 days early. RENEW automates the list and the reminders for free.
Step 1: Find all your subscriptions
- Search your email for “receipt”, “invoice”, “renewal” and “subscription”.
- Check your bank and PayPal statements for the last 12 months – yearly charges hide well.
- Look at app store subscriptions on your phone (Apple and Google).
- Or import a bank CSV into RENEW – recurring debits are detected on your device.
Step 2: Note the deadlines
For each subscription you need two dates: the next renewal and – for contracts – the last day you can cancel. Many annual plans must be cancelled weeks before they renew.
Step 3: Get reminded in time
RENEW reminds you 30, 7 and 1 day before each date, shows a badge on the toolbar icon and can send push notifications or add everything to your calendar.
Step 4: Cancel the right way
- Cancel on the official account page – not by deleting the app.
- Do it 1–2 days before the renewal; you usually keep access until the paid period ends.
- Save the cancellation confirmation – RENEW can mark the entry as cancelled.
Questions
Do I lose access immediately when I cancel?
Usually not. Most services keep your access until the end of the period you already paid for.
What is a cancellation deadline?
